GIVE NEW ROSE A REST - Vandalism of wall done by Bill Drummond. This is the title of one of The Twelve Steps to 2025. This is the title for the one that represents the year 2018. There has been a mix up. It should have been BURN THE BRIDGE.

Skegness to Dún Aonghasa is a tour in almost a straight line across The Atlantic Archipelago.

Between dawn on Monday the 4th of July to sunset on Friday 8th of July, Bill Drummond will be screening the film Imagine Waking Up Tomorrow And All Music Has Disappeared at numerous locations along the latitude of 53.1256 degrees North.

The first screening will be on the beach at Skegness as the sun rises from the North Sea.

The final screening will be on top of the cliffs at Dún Aonghasa on Inishmore off the west coast of Ireland, as the sun sets into the Atlantic Ocean.

The various screenings along the way will be primarily for those that are featured in the film. Other than the screening that is part of the Galway Film Fleadh, these screenings are in private or un-advertised locations.

Bill Drummond will be doing the journey in his White Ford Transit Van. In the back of the van will be a screen and projector. Accompanying him on this journey will be the Welsh artist Tracey Moberly. She will be working as the usherette, projectionist and interval ice-cream lady.

This is a documentary film by Swiss director Stefan Schwietert. The protagonist of the film is Bill Drummond. The film follows Drummond across these islands via his hometown Newton Stewart, as Drummond attempts to reinvent music after his own self imposed year zero.

TEN REASONS WHY by Bill Drummond as of June 2016

There are ten reason why, the first five are why you should never watch the filmImagine Waking Up Tomorrow Morning & All Music Has Disappeared. The second five are why you should watch the same film as soon as possible.

One: Because the closing shot of the film is not of me on my raft made from my bed sailing out into the Atlantic Ocean heading for the horizon. This was a scene we spent the best part of a day filming over and over again and I risked life, limb and all sense of danger.

Two: Because it has me trying to explain why there in no music by The KLF in it and failing.

Three:Because it has me trying to explain why I wont talk about the money burning and failing because I am ambushed by some school children.

Four: Because there is no leading lady to act as my foil. A film without a foil has no human tension. All stories need human tension.

Five: Because this film does not treat maps with respect. Maps are the most serious man made objects in my life. This film has two maps in it. Both of them are wrong. This is an insult to every one that sees the film and in a sense all of creation. If you have a map in a film they have to be right. The first map in the film is in the foreground of one scene. It is a map of the Atlantic Archipelago. On this map can be clearly seen a line drawn across it. The viewer will understandably assume this to be the line of the journey we are following in the film. It isn’t it is the Soup Line, something else altogether. The second map is digitally animated and fills the whole screen. On this map the journey we are following is clearly and purposefully marked but about 100 miles further north than it should be. This one and very serious flaw in the film means I have the urge to stand outside every screening handing out disclaimers and apologies along with a map with the correct line on it.

Six: Because this film is free of any soundtrack that relies on music. I hate music used as the soundtrack to films. I consider it to be a cheap trick used by filmmakers to lend their film ersatz emotions, tension and flavour, when that should come from the acting, story and visuals. Music lies and then lies again. This film has the greatest soundtrack in any film ever. And that soundtrack is just the natural sounds of real life brilliantly recorded by Dieter Meyer and designed by Oswald Schwander.

Seven: Because this film captures something of the people and places of these island that no other film I have ever seen does. This is inspiring, heart warming but never patronising. If in the future people want to know what a slice through England, Wales and Ireland looked like in 2013, they must watch this film. The rest of what this film is supposedly about can be deemed irrelevant.

Eight: Because this film perfectly captures a man in his late middle age just before the scales start tipping into old age. But a man who still does not know what he is going to do when he grows up.

Nine: Because Stefan Schwietert is a great director. Every one should watch one of his films before they die. This is the only one of his films completely in English. If English is your first language make it this one.

Ten: Because it is maybe the only film released in the UK and Ireland, that will never be made available on DVD, as a download or streamed. While I’m alive, you will only ever be able to see this film while I’m there, screening it and then telling you about the film that should have been made.

This might be the only screening of the film on the Skegness to Dún Aonghasa tour that will be open to the paying public.
